As per API 612, each turbine must have a trip system consist of at least two separate electro-hydraulic solenoid operated valves to shut down the turbine. Although this two valves can assure the "safety" of the machine, but "Availability" cannot be guaranteed.
Using 2oo3 voting in a trip block will guarantee both safety and availability of the the turbine. This trip block can be used for new machines, as well as replacement solution for old fashioned trip systems.
